Uninstalling System Apps

Pre-installed system apps cannot be uninstalled in the usual way via system settings or the app store.

In Volla's security mode, unneeded system apps can be permanently or temporarily disabled. However, completely uninstalling a pre-installed system app is not intended and requires a workaround via the terminal.

WARNING! This guide is intended exclusively for experienced users who are aware of the risks. Improper use may result in damage to the operating system and data loss. All warranties are voided! Use at your own risk!

Prerequisites on the Desktop

  • Minimal ADB
 Explanation: [[1]]
  • Fastboot
 Explanation: [[2]]

The tools can be installed via the operating system's package manager/app store. On Linux/Ubuntu, this can be done via the terminal with: sudo apt install android-tools-adb sudo apt install android-tools-fastboot

Alternatively, the latest version of the tools can be downloaded and extracted (.zip file) from [Platform Tools].

Preparation on the Phone

Enable USB debugging:

  1. Go to Settings > System > About Phone and tap the “Build Number” several times in quick succession until a message appears stating that developer options have been unlocked.
  2. Go to Settings > System > Developer Options and enable the toggle for “USB Debugging”.
  3. Connect the phone to the PC. A small window will appear: Enable “Allow PC access to the phone”.

access from the PC was not authorized. Please re-authorize access.
  1. Continue with:
 adb shell
 Example output:
 k63v2_64_bsp:/ $
  1. List all installed apps and system components:
 pm list packages
  1. List only third-party apps:
 pm list packages -3

Uninstalling a System App (Example: Hide.me App)

Run the following command: pm uninstall -k --user 0 hideme.android.vpn.noPlayStore The app will be uninstalled. Output: Success

Restart the phone to update the app drawer, or stop and restart the Volla Launcher.

Note

OS version upgrades may reinstall the uninstalled app.
