Setting Up MultiBoot

You can install and run an additional operating system on the Volla Phone Quintus with Volla OS.

Setting Up and Managing the Operating System

Ensure that there is sufficient free storage space available, at least 40 GB of internal storage, if you want to reserve 30 GB for the second operating system. During the entire process, ensure that the screen remains active and the app is not exited. Do not start any other apps during this time.

  1. Open the system settings (gear icon) in the app overview.
  2. Select the "System" entry and then choose "Volla-Boot-Manager."
  3. The VollaBootManager will appear.
  4. Tap on "Install."
  5. "Welcome to ABM" – Tap "Next" at the bottom.
  6. Assign a name for the ACTIVE operating system. Tap "Next" at the bottom.
  7. "Please select the listed files or start..." – Tap "Next" at the bottom without further action.
  8. The script will run. Once "Successful" appears as the last entry, tap "Done" at the bottom.
  9. The VollaBootManager will appear again. The information window should now be green, and all entries should show "Yes" as confirmed.
  10. Tap on "Install OS."
  11. The "General Settings" will appear. Move the slider to the right until approximately 30 GB is set. Then tap "Next."
  12. Tap on "UbuntuTouch."
  13. A screen will appear with the message "You have almost installed the operating system. Only a few steps remain..." Tap "Install."
  14. A screen will appear with the message "Please select the listed files or start..." Tap only on "Install" at the bottom.
  15. The installation process will start and will conclude when the last entry shows "Successful." Tap "Done" to finish.
  16. Volla OS and UbuntuTouch should now be listed in the VollaBootManager.
  17. Restart the device.

If the Multi-Boot function is not visible, update the operating system.

Running the Operating System

If you have installed an additional operating system, you can select it after starting or restarting your device.

  • The last executed operating system will be displayed as the default selection in a list.
  • Use the volume up and volume down keys to change the selection in the list.
  • Confirm your selection with the power button. If no selection is made, the last executed system will start.

Updating the operating system

  • VollaOS is updated as usual via the system settings.
  • The second system, UbuntuTouch, may only be updated using the update function in VollaBootManager. Under no circumstances should you attempt to perform an update within UbuntuTouch.
